As we reflect on 2024, it's clear that this has been a year of considerable expansion for every facet of the Bamboo group. Particularly within our branded law firms Hawkins Hatton and Carbon Law Partners, growth has been a consistent theme throughout the year.

This period of expansion has not only been about increasing our footprint but also enhancing our leadership team with strategic hires. Having recently welcomed Matt Church as our Head of Business Development and Marketing, followed by Liz Smith, who took on the role of Head of Talent. Most recently, we are thrilled to announce another significant addition—Emma McDonnell as our new Head of Legal and Compliance.

The creation of this new position aligns with the increased commercial activities across the Bamboo group and the corresponding rise in demand for high-quality legal and regulatory guidance. Emma's appointment is a testament to the strength and appeal of our leadership team; her extensive experience in fast-paced, high-growth sectors makes her an ideal fit for Bamboo.

Emma trained at Go Compare, where she held pivotal roles before moving on to become Vice President of Group Governance, further honing her expertise in legal strategy within dynamic business environments. In her new role at Bamboo, Emma will report directly to William Brewis, our Group Chief Finance and Risk Officer. Together with William and Michael Burne, our CEO, Emma will play a crucial role in strategic initiatives that require robust legal and regulatory oversight.

William Brewis shared his insights on this development: "Throughout this year, it’s been clear to me that we needed to enhance our capacity within the legal and compliance function to seize the opportunities surrounding us. I am eager to collaborate closely with Emma to develop this vital function across our group."

Michael Burne also expressed his enthusiasm about Emma joining the team: "From my first meeting with Emma, it was evident that she possesses both the commercial acumen and technical expertise necessary to significantly contribute to a business like ours. I’m absolutely delighted that she’s agreed to join us as we gear up for the next phase of our growth."

As Bamboo continues its upward trajectory into 2025, these strategic additions to our senior management team are set not only to bolster our internal capabilities but also enhance how we serve clients across all sectors.

We look forward eagerly to what lies ahead with leaders like Emma steering us forward.
